For me, my perspective is that English belongs to the world.
It is a world language.
There's no such thing as bad communication in English.
We hear a lot about social media today about how it's affecting different areas of our lives.
I think the difficulty is going to be really knowing whether what you're listening to is real.
People join us from Everest Base Camp, you know?
That's just fantastic.
So see if you can top that!

I'm here today with Neil, with Neeraj.
You've probably actually already seen them quite often on our YouTube channels,
and we're talking about social media and English language learning.
So, the effects that social media has had on English language learning.
So, Neil, I think you told me you've been teaching thirty, what, thirty years?
You told me to say that, yeah.
Something like that.
Something like that.
A few years, yeah.
Many years.
So, like, real steadfast teacher here.
Neeraj, how long have you been teaching?
Around...
just under twenty years.
Okay.
好的。
So but, like so, collectively...
We've got about over fifty years' experience.
Since before the days of the Internet, never mind before the days of social media.
Okay, so we've got some solid, solid guests on the show today.
I love how I've just made it my show.
It's not my show.
But, also, most interestingly, for the conversation we're having today, you both have, you both work a lot with social media.
So can you just quickly give, like, a one sentence liner on what you do with social media right now?
I manage the social media channels for learners that the British Council has worldwide, and we have, you know,
we have all the main kind of ones.
We have, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, X and so on.
And basically, you know, we we have millions of followers worldwide.
I think, eight and a half million, something like that.
and and, you know, I communicate with them every day.
