Good morning.

(Ethereal music) It has been quite a privilege being able to grow up in two quite different ways of life.

I was born in Germany, and at the same time had the chance to learn more about an ancient art coming from the Shaolin Temple.
我出生在德国，同时也有机会深入了解一种源自少林寺的古老艺术。
When you grow up in an Asian family, it is quite common that firstly, you don't argue with your father,
在亚洲家庭中长大，通常会有这样一种情况：首先，你不会与父亲发生争执。
and secondly, you either become medical doctor, engineer, or lawyer.
其次，你可以选择成为一名医生、工程师或律师。
Elsewise your parents will be very unhappy.
否则，你的父母会非常不高兴的。
So having that said, I finished my academic education with two university degrees, an MBA,
既然如此，我完成了我的学术教育，获得了两个大学学位以及一个MBA学位。
and quite a collection of different certificates and diplomas - everything that my parents thought would be useful to have.

But throughout this education,

I felt something was missing.

Because I was learning about many different aspects - how the plant is working, what an atom is made out of,

how a political system is functioning, but somehow, the subject was missing

to learn something about myself.

So with the age of four, for the first time I got introduced into the monastic practices,

and I was very happy to find out that the main part of these practices were dealing with the exploration and the discovery of yourself.
当我发现这些实践的核心内容都是关于自我探索与自我发现时，我感到非常高兴。
There was mental training,
还包括心理训练。
development of behavior combined with the physical training, all aspects of what nowadays is known as Shaolin Kung-Fu.
行为的发展与体能训练相结合，构成了如今人们所熟知的少林功夫的全部内涵。
Now, despite the wishes of my parents to somehow go out in the market and try to manage the world,
尽管我的父母希望自己能够走出家门，去尝试掌控这个世界，但实际情况却并非如此……
I decided to continue this monastic life and start learning more about myself first.
我决定继续这种隐居生活，并首先更多地了解自己。
Now, in the preparation for this talk, I was asked to share a few words on

what is important in this lifetime,
在这人生中，真正重要的是什么？
and see,

it's already challenging
这本身就已经具有挑战性了。
to put three decades into a single talk.
将三十年的经验浓缩到一场演讲中。
But the picture I would like to show you summarizes very much
但我想给你们看的这张图片，其实已经很好地概括了整个情况。
what I consider as being valuable in this lifetime.
我认为这辈子最有价值的东西。
There is something about sharing with others.
与他人分享总有一种特别的感觉（或意义）。
There is something about connection.
人与人之间的联系，确实有一种特别之处（或：人与人之间的联系本身就蕴含着某种独特的价值/意义）。
There is the training and development of yourself.
还有自我培训与自我发展的过程。
It is to enjoy your time, even doing nothing.
就是要享受你的时光，哪怕什么都不做。
And one main aspect is
其中一个主要方面是……
to find a way and do the things you like to do.
想办法去做那些你喜欢做的事情。
Now, when I received the invitation to have a talk at today's event, especially under the slogan "High,
当我收到邀请，受邀在今天的活动中发表演讲时，尤其是考虑到活动的主题是“高……”（High……），我感到非常荣幸。
Higher, Highest," something very particular came up on my mind, and a master from the Shaolin Temple
更高、最高……”我的脑海中突然浮现出一个非常具体的想法，同时我也想到了少林寺的一位高僧。
once told me a story that I would like to share with you.
有一次，他给我讲了一个故事，现在我想和大家分享一下。

A man was living close to a mountain, and every day he was thinking:
有一个人住在靠近山脉的地方，他每天都在想：
How would it be to climb that mountain and what would I see on the peak?
登上那座山会是什么感觉？在山顶上，我会看到什么呢？
So finally, the day came, and the man went on the journey.
