These are some of the most common English words.
这些是一些最常见的英语单词。
You see them in almost every English sentence and today we're going to practise their natural pronunciation,
你几乎可以在每一个英语句子中看到它们(指这些单词或短语)。今天,我们就来练习它们的自然发音方式。
the way that they really sound when you hear them spoken out loud by native English speakers: and,
当英语母语者将这些单词大声说出来时,它们实际发出的声音就是这样的……
that and were are often not so clearly pronounced.
此外,“were”这个词的发音也常常不够清晰(即发音不够准确)。
They usually sound like
它们通常听起来像是……
So getting familiar with these more natural pronunciations will help you to understand fast-talking native English speakers.

Let's dive into the lesson.
让我们开始学习这节课的内容吧。
These words are all function words or grammatical words.
这些词都属于功能词或语法词。
So when they're spoken in English sentences, they are usually unstressed.
因此,当这些词出现在英语句子中时,它们通常不会被重读(即不会被强调)。
They don't carry a lot of meaning in our sentences and they are less important than other words.
在我们的句子中,这些词并没有太多的意义,因此它们的重要性也低于其他词汇。
Nouns, verbs, adjectives, these are important words.
名词、动词、形容词,这些都是重要的词汇。
These are the stressed words in our sentences, but these ones, these ones often get murmured or mumbled or pushed together with other words.
这些就是我们句子中的重点词汇(即需要特别强调的词语),然而它们常常被轻声念出、含糊地说出来,或者与其他词语混在一起发音。
Let's take a closer look at that one.
让我们仔细看看那个吧。
Actually, that can be stressed or unstressed in English sentences depending on how it's used.
实际上,在英语句子中,这个词的发音(是否带有重音)取决于它的使用方式。
So when that is a determiner, we use it to explain which specific thing we're talking about.
因此,当某个词充当限定词时,我们用它来明确我们指的是具体哪一样东西。
So then we usually stress the word so that it's really clear which one.
因此,我们通常会特别强调这个词,以确保大家能清楚地知道指的是哪一个。
No, not this one, that one!
不,不是这个,是那个!
It's really clear.
这一点非常清楚。
As an adverb, it will probably also be stressed.
作为副词,它很可能会被重读。
I'm not that hungry.
我并不是很饿。
But when that is used as a conjunction to connect two clauses in a sentence together, then it's unstressed.
但是,当它被用作连词来连接句子中的两个从句时,它就不是重读音了。
So instead of that, it becomes
所以,情况并没有变成那样,而是变成了……
so that vowel sound softens and it reduces to the schwa sound.
这样一来,元音的发音就会变得柔和,最终变成“schwa”音(即一个介于元音和辅音之间的音)。
I told her that I'd be there.
我告诉她我会去那里。
It wasn't the answer that I wanted to hear.
这并不是我想听到的答案。
Be is definitely the most commonly used English word, but it has several different forms, doesn't it?
be”绝对是英语中使用最频繁的单词,但它也有几种不同的形式,对吧?
Depending on the subject and the tense, it could be am, is, are, was or were.
根据主语和时态的不同,动词形式可以是 “am”、“is”、“are”、“was” 或 “were”。
And just like the verbs do and have, the be verb can be used as a main verb as well as as an auxiliary verb.
就像其他动词一样,“be”动词既可以作为主要动词使用,也可以作为助动词使用。
I'll be home soon.
我很快就会到家。
Here, be is our main verb, isn't it?
在这里,“be”是我们的主要动词,对吧?
Be home.
待在家里。
I'll be home soon.
我很快就会到家。
In the present tenses, be becomes I am...
在现在时态中,“be”动词会变成“I am...”的形式。
We are...
我们就是……
It is...
这真是……
Right?
对吧?
But they are usually pushed together to create contractions when spoken so we can say them more quickly.
但在口语中,这些音素通常会被组合在一起(形成所谓的“缩约音”),这样我们就能更快地表达出来。
I'm...
我……
