Today, I have four street interviews for you.

In these interviews, Americans are going to tell you about how they spent their summer vacations or holidays.

These are the questions I'm going to ask them: Where did you go this summer on vacation?

What is your dream summer vacation?

Do you prefer a mountain or a beach vacation?

Do you have any cherished memories from a vacation you've taken?

Remember, vacation is like holiday in the United States; we say vacation, in the UK they say holiday.
请记住，在美国，“vacation”和“holiday”是同一个意思；而在英国，人们使用“holiday”来表示休假。
Also, cherished memories are like good and happy memories.
此外，那些珍贵的回忆往往都是美好而快乐的回忆。
Let's listen to the first interview, then I'll explain some of the difficult words and phrases.

"Where did you go this summer on vacation?"
今年夏天你去哪里度假了？
"Um, this summer on vacation, I went north to my cabin a bunch.
嗯，这个夏天休假的时候，我多次去了北边的小木屋那里。
We have a cabin in ******, Wisconsin.
我们在威斯康星州的******地区有一间小木屋。
It's on **** Lake, so we like to go up there during the summer.

But that was my main summer vacation spot."

"What is your dream summer vacation?"

"If I could go anywhere, dream summer vacation would probably be somewhere in the country like Colorado.

Somewhere in the mountains to go hiking or something cool like that."

"Mountain in summer, but beach in winter"

"Do you have any cherished memories from a family vacation or a different vacation you've taken when you were younger or small?"

Probably when I would go visit family down in Florida.

We used to go down there a lot and um, just visit and we go fishing and whatnot."

So, he talked about his cabin, which is like a house in the nature, far from the city.

Sometimes people call these cottages or country houses or countryside houses, but he used the word cabin.

All of these are the same.

He also says that he goes up there.

Americans love to use up and down to talk about directions; up is north and down is south.

So when he says he likes to go up there or he goes up there, he's saying he's going north to this lake.

A vacation spot is just a popular place where people go on vacation or holiday.
度假胜地，其实就是人们常去度假的地方罢了。
A dream summer vacation is a summer vacation of your dreams, the place you would love to go.

Colorado is a state more or less in the center of the United States; there are lots of mountains and good nature in Colorado.
科罗拉多州大致位于美国的中部，该州拥有众多的山脉和优美的自然风光。
To go hiking is like to go walking in nature.
去远足就如同在大自然中散步一样。
Down in Florida, again, Americans love to use up and down for directions, so down in Florida means down south or south in Florida,
在佛罗里达州，美国人喜欢用“down and up”来表示方向。因此，“down in Florida”实际上指的是“位于佛罗里达州的南部地区”。
