Okay, let's do this.
好吧,我们开始吧。
Hi everybody, welcome back to my channel.
大家好,欢迎回到我的频道!
Today we're going to talk about four best ways to work on your English pronunciation.
今天我们将会讨论四种提高英语发音的最佳方法。
I started learning English from a young age, but I didn't develop a good accent until I was much older.
我从小就开始学习英语,但直到年纪较大时,我的英语口音才真正变得标准(或者说“好”了)。
So these are the things that I learned together with my students pretty much.
这些基本上就是我和我的学生们一起学到的东西。
So the reason why I'm so passionate
所以我如此充满热情的原因……
about pronunciation and your accent in English is because I didn't get too much information on how to do it,
关于英语发音和口音的问题,是因为我没有找到太多关于如何正确发音或改善口音的信息。
what are the best ways to do it, what works, what doesn't work when I was in school.
那么,最好的方法是什么呢?哪些方法确实有效,哪些方法则毫无效果呢?我在上学的时候就了解过这些情况。
And I also didn't really know how important it was to have a good pronunciation and to be clear when you speak.
我也并不真正意识到:良好的发音以及说话时表达清晰的重要性究竟有多大。
Our teacher, back in Moldova, was not a native speaker.
我们的老师在摩尔多瓦时,并不是英语的母语者。
She was from Ukraine, so she did have quite a thick accent, but it didn't really matter
她来自乌克兰,因此她的口音确实很重;不过这其实并没有什么关系。
to us because we were kids and we just looked at English as another subject, you know, another thing that I have to do homework for.
对我们来说,英语只是一门普通的学科罢了;我们只是把它当作另一门需要完成作业的科目而已。
However, I was a little bit more passionate about English than my other classmates and
不过,我对英语的热情确实比其他同学要更高一些。
I was watching some shows on TV and some movies and I was listening to some American music
我在看电视上的节目、电影,同时也在听一些美国音乐。
on the side when I was at home.
在我待在家里的时候,我会顺便做一些事情(比如兼职工作之类的)。
So I could kind of compare that whatever I would hear at school didn't really match to whatever I was seeing on TV.
因此,我可以得出这样的结论:在学校里听到的内容,与我在电视上看到的内容其实并不一致。
So obviously because I thought, well, these people are from the US, right?
所以,很明显,我当时想的是:这些人应该来自美国,对吧?
There were American movies, American music.
有美国电影,也有美国音乐。
I will just repeat after them and I will imitate them and not my teacher because, you know,
我只需要跟着他们重复他们的动作、模仿他们的行为,而不是模仿我的老师。因为,你们知道的……
she's not that credible or whatever.
她并不是那么可靠(或者说,她的可信度并不高)。
And it was fine because she was teaching us grammar, we were reading a lot, you know, we were learning English,
这没什么问题,因为她正在教我们语法,我们也读了很多书,总之我们正在学习英语。
we were studying English, but then on
我们当时正在学习英语,但后来……(后续内容未提供)。
the side at home, I would just listen to English and try to imitate the pronunciation I would hear on TV.
对于主场那边的比赛,我会只听英语解说,并尝试模仿电视上听到的发音。
Okay, so method number one would be shadowing.
好的,第一种方法就是“跟踪观察”(即暗中跟随目标对象进行观察)。
I talk about shadowing on all my social platforms.
我在所有的社交媒体平台上都提到了“影子跟随”(shadowing)这一行为。
I'm sure you've heard me talk about it before.
我敢肯定,你们之前已经听过我谈论过这件事了。
And shadowing is just, you know, the umbrella term of repeating, imitating and just wanting
Shadowing”(跟踪观察)其实只是一个总称,用来描述那些重复他人行为、模仿他人动作,以及单纯出于某种目的而进行相关行为的行为。
to sound like someone else or trying to sound like someone else.
试图模仿别人的说话方式,或者让自己的声音听起来像别人的声音。
I used to shadow or imitate different people, different actors, right?
我过去常常模仿或追随不同的人、不同的演员,对吧?
And when you shadow, what you do is you are just imitating the exact melody, tone, rhythm and pronunciation that that person is using.
当你进行“影子跟随”(即模仿某人的言行)时,你所做的就是精确地模仿那个人使用的旋律、音调、节奏以及发音方式。
And shadowing gives you this crazy rude awakening of what it means to actually speak English.
通过“影子式学习”(即观察他人如何说英语并模仿他们的发音和表达方式),你会突然意识到:真正掌握英语并能够流利地使用它,其实是一件非常复杂且需要付出大量努力的事情。
How fast do you need to actually go or how slow you need to actually go sometimes?
有时候,我们需要以多快的速度行驶?又或者,需要以多慢的速度行驶呢?
Because when you express thoughts, opinions, ideas, you have a certain melody in your native language, right?
因为当你表达自己的想法、观点或意见时,你的母语中总会有一种特定的表达方式(或者说,有一种“表达的旋律”),对吧?
Sometimes you make a joke, you have to be really quick.
有时候你开了个玩笑,就必须立刻反应过来(或者说必须立刻停止这个玩笑)。
Sometimes you are being empathetic with somebody, you're, I don't know, they're sharing some bad news.
有时候,你会对某人表现出同理心;比如,他们可能正在向你分享一些不好的消息。
You're slowing down, right?
你的速度正在变慢,对吧?
You're listening more, you speak a little bit slower, right?
你现在的倾听时间更长了,说话的速度也稍微慢了一些,对吧?
When you're anxious, when you're nervous, you want to speak a little bit faster, your brain is just playing that trick on you.
当你感到焦虑或紧张时,你会不自觉地想要加快说话的速度;其实这只是你的大脑在对你“耍花招”罢了。
So in English is the same thing, you know, other people speak English as their native language, just like how you're speaking your native language.
用英语来说,情况也是一样的:其他人把英语作为他们的母语来使用,就像你使用自己的母语一样。
So don't feel like English is just a science, a subject that you just learn through books and that's it.
因此,不要认为英语只是一门科学,只是一门需要通过书本来学习的学科而已。
