Hi friends I am Niharika welcome back.
嗨,朋友们!我是尼哈里卡,欢迎大家再次回到这里。
In today’s lesson we are gonna look at expressions to talk about boredom.
在今天的课程中,我们将学习一些用于表达“无聊”情绪的短语。
Not every day is gonna be exciting.
并不是每一天都会充满刺激或乐趣的。
There are days when things are not very interesting and you are really bored doing something.
有些日子,事情并没有那么有趣,做某件事会让你感到非常无聊。
So how do you express that in English?
那么,该如何用英语表达这个意思呢?
That’s what we are gonna learn in today’s lesson.
这就是我们将在今天的课程中学到的内容。
So here we have eight expressions that you can use in your daily conversation.
这里有八种表达方式,你可以在日常对话中使用它们。
Which will help you to express boredom.
这会帮助你表达自己的无聊情绪。
So what exactly is boredom?
那么,无聊到底是什么呢?
When things are uninteresting, not very exciting, a little dull.
当事情变得无趣、缺乏刺激、甚至有些沉闷时……
It means that you are bored.
这意味着你感到无聊。
So let’s have a look at the very first phrase that we have, how dull or how boring.
那么,让我们来看看我们遇到的第一个短语吧——它到底有多乏味、有多无聊呢?
Now these two words are not very strong words in English.
在英语中,这两个词并不是非常有力的表达方式(即它们的含义或影响力不强)。
So even if you use it in front of people, people would not really get offended.
所以,即使你在众人面前使用它,人们也不会真的感到被冒犯。
So if someone says, hey let’s go watch a play and you’re not very interested.
比如说,有人提议:“嘿,我们去看一场戏剧表演吧。”而你对此并不是很感兴趣……
You find plays pretty boring, so you’re gonna say, Ahhh how dull or how boring.
你觉得戏剧表演非常无聊,因此你会说:“啊,真是太乏味了!
Let’s do something else.
我们来做点别的事情吧。
So the other person is not gonna feel very bad about it.
所以,另一个人对此也不会感到太难过。
So it’s not offending, hence you can use these words.
因此,这些词语并不会引起他人的反感或冒犯,所以你可以放心使用它们。
Now this emotion of being bored is pretty much measureable.
现在,这种“无聊”的情绪其实是可以被量化的。
Like it has its intensity.
它的强度确实很高。
At times you are a little bored and at times, you are so bored.
有时候你会感到有点无聊,而有时候,无聊的感觉会非常强烈。
So therefore these expressions will help you to talk about intensity of boredom as well.
因此,这些表达方式也能帮助你描述无聊感的强烈程度。
So if you’re not very bored, if you find something a little uninteresting then use these expressions.
所以,如果你并不是感到非常无聊,或者觉得某件事有点无趣的话,就可以使用这些表达方式。
Now if you’re very bored then you can use another expression.
如果你觉得非常无聊的话,还可以使用另一个表达方式。
Which is it bores me to tears.
这真的让我烦透了……
Now not literally you’re gonna start crying, if you’re bored.
当然,我不是说你真的会因为无聊而开始哭起来……
But yes, it’s just this expression gives that physical effect that, Oh yes, I am extremely bored.
不过,确实是这样:这种表达方式本身就带有一种“视觉效果”,让人立刻感受到“哦,我真是无聊极了”的情绪。
Okay probably you are attending a lecture in your college and you find this professor very boring, you can’t really stand him.
好吧,也许你现在正在大学里听一场讲座,你觉得这位教授非常无趣,实在无法忍受他的讲课方式。
So you’re gonna say, oh my god his lecture bores me to tears.
那么你可能会说:“哦,我的天啊,他的讲座真是无聊透顶,让我听得想哭。
So it means that you cannot handle his lecture; it just bores you so much.
这意味着你根本无法听懂他的讲座内容——那些内容实在太无聊了,让你感到极度厌烦。
Therefore rather than just saying his lecture is so boring.
因此,我们不应该只是简单地说他的讲座非常无聊。
You can use this phrase by saying that it bores me to tears.
你可以用这句话来表达自己的感受,比如:“这真的让我烦透了!
It means you are extremely bored.
这意味着你感到非常无聊。
Let’s have a look at another one, which is it leaves me cold.
让我们再看看另一个例子吧……不过这个例子让我完全感到无动于衷(或者说:这个例子并没有给我留下任何印象)。
It leaves me cold, it means that you have no emotion, no feeling hence you are bored.
这让我感到非常冷漠——这说明你毫无情感、毫无感觉,因此才会感到无聊。
So you know there are some things that you find, so dull and uninteresting that there’s no emotion at all.
你知道,有些东西实在枯燥无味、毫无吸引力,以至于你对此完全没有任何情绪反应(即既不会感到兴奋,也不会感到沮丧)。
Like for example, my mom comes and says that Niharika you need to clean your wardrobe and you’re like alright ill do that,
比如说,我妈妈过来对我说:“尼哈里卡,你需要清理一下你的衣柜。”我就会回答:“好的,我马上就去处理。
so there’s no emotional effect on me.
因此,这对我没有任何情感上的影响。
It’s just that, yes I have to clean it and I find this job very boring.
只是……没错,我确实需要打扫这个地方,而且我觉得这份工作非常无聊。
