I've got a pronunciation lesson for you today, one that I think you'll find incredibly useful.

I'm going to give you some tips that will help you to pronounce thousands of English words.

Words that end in -tion.
以“-tion”结尾的单词。
Now I bet that you're already thinking of some examples of English words that end in -tion, aren't you?

There are so many!

This part of the word is a suffix, a common ending in an English word.
这个词的这一部分是一个后缀，是英语单词中常见的结尾形式。
Now words that end like this in English are almost always a noun.
在英语中，以这种方式结尾的词几乎总是名词。
And the pronunciation of this syllable is always unstressed.
这个音节的发音总是不带重音的。
It's always an unstressed syllable which means it's really quick.
这个音节通常是不重读的，因此发音速度非常快。
Yeah, -tion is pronounced
是的，“-tion”这个后缀的发音是这样的。
If it was written like it's supposed to sound it would be like this..
如果这句话的表述方式能够真正体现出它应有的语气和效果，那么它应该会是这样的……
Well phonetically it's ʃ ə n These are the phonetic symbols, the sounds, not the letters.
从语音学角度来看，这个单词的发音是 “ʃ ə n”。这些符号代表的是实际的声音，而不是字母本身。
ʃ - an unvoiced consonant sound.
ʃ——一个清辅音。
ə - the unstressed vowel sound, the schwa.
ə – 非重读音节的元音发音，也就是所谓的“schwa”音。
And n - a voiced consonant sound.
n 是一个浊辅音。
Now bring all of those sounds together and you get -tion.
现在，把所有这些声音融合在一起，你就会得到 “-tion” 这个后缀。
It's really, really fast.
它的速度真的非常非常快。
In fact, often the schwa sound is absorbed into the consonant sounds.
实际上，很多时候“schwa”这个音素会被吸收进辅音发音中。
Because it's unstressed, we hardly hear it at all.
因为这个音节没有重音，所以我们几乎听不到它的存在。
So if you see it in a dictionary written like this, it means that the sound is absorbed into the consonant sounds around it.
因此，如果你在字典中看到这样的表述，那就意味着这个音会被周围的辅音所“吸收”（即这个音的发音特征会被周围的辅音所影响或改变）。
Now these words are a special bonus

Now there are a couple of exceptions to this pronunciation rule.

When the consonant sound

is the sound right before the -tion, the pronunciation becomes /tʃən/ instead of
