British vs. American accent challenge · British Council | LearnEnglish Teens
Sophia和Natasha对比英式与美式发音差异,讲解如‘vitamin’和‘water’等单词的不同发音方式,适合练习发音和语音辨析。
Sophia: Hi, everyone!
索菲亚:大家好!
Welcome back to another video for the British Council’s LearnEnglish Teens website and their YouTube channel.
欢迎回到英国文化协会(British Council)的“LearnEnglish Teens”网站及其YouTube频道推出的又一段视频。
Today I’m joined with Natasha again and we are going to be doing a little challenge.
今天,我又和娜塔莎一起了,我们要共同完成一个小小的挑战。
I’ve seen this video on YouTube and it’s an accent challenge.
我在 YouTube 上看过这个视频,它是一个关于口音模仿的挑战。
So, Natasha, where are you from?
那么,娜塔莎,你来自哪里?
Natasha: Er, I’m from the US, in California.
娜塔莎:嗯,我来自美国加利福尼亚州。
Sophia: And I’m from London, in England in the UK.
索菲亚:我来自英国的伦敦。
As you might be able to already tell, our accents are slightly different, so even though we are both English native speakers,
正如你们可能已经注意到的那样,我们的口音略有不同。因此,尽管我们都是以英语为母语的人……
we pronounce some words differently.
我们有些单词的发音方式是不同的。
So, we wanted to put this to the test and see how we pronounce words differently.
因此,我们想对此进行测试,看看我们在发音时究竟会如何有所不同。
So, we have a list of words that we’re going to both pronounce and you guys can join in as well.
我们有一份单词列表,我们会把这些单词读出来,大家也可以一起参与进来。
Before we say how we would say these words, you can tell us how you would say them.
在我们说明自己会如何表达这些词语之前,你可以先告诉我们你认为自己会如何表达它们。
So, the first word is this – hopefully the sun is not washing it out.
那么,第一个需要处理的词就是这个……希望阳光不会把它冲掉(或:希望阳光不会破坏它的效果)。
How would you pronounce that?
你该如何发音呢?
Natasha, do you want to go first?
娜塔莎,你想先来吗?
Natasha: ‘Vitamin.’
娜塔莎:“维生素。
Sophia: You would say ‘vitamin’.
索菲亚:你会说“维生素”。
I would say ‘vitamin’.
我会说是“维生素”。
Why do you pronounce your ‘Vs’ as ‘vai’?
为什么你把字母“V”发成“vai”的音呢?
Natasha: Well, it’s ‘V-I’, is why it’s ‘vai’ …
娜塔莎:嗯,这个单词的发音是“V-I”,所以才被写作“vai”……
for us.
对我们来说。
Sophia: ‘V’, ‘vitamin’ …
索菲亚:“V”、“维生素”……
‘vitamin’ …
维生素”……
anyway, that’s the difference!
无论如何,这就是两者的区别所在!
I’m not sure about the technicality behind it.
我不太清楚其中的技术细节。
next word is a basic for everyone but we argue about how we pronounce it.
next word”这个词对每个人来说都是基础词汇,但我们却对它的发音方式存在争议。
How would you guys pronounce this?
你们会怎么发音这个单词呢?
How would you say it?
你会怎么表达呢?
Natasha: I would say ‘water’.
娜塔莎:我会选择“水”。
Sophia: And I would say ‘water’.
索菲亚:我会回答“水”。
I think the British, like, ooh, at least the London British accent, is very closed in the mouth,
我觉得英国人的发音方式,至少是伦敦人的发音方式,特点是发音时嘴巴闭合得非常紧。
it’s like ‘wa’ …
就像“wa”……
like everything is ...
就好像一切都……
swallowed.
被吞下了。
Natasha: That’s true.
娜塔莎:确实如此。
Yeah, and I think in the US
是的,我觉得在美国也是如此。
we don’t, well, just at least where I’m from, we don’t always pronounce the ‘T’ super sharply so it becomes like a ‘D’ sound,
在我们那里(至少在我家乡),我们并不总是把字母“T”发得非常清晰、非常响亮;有时候它的发音会变得像字母“D”一样。
like ‘butter’, too, is also, how do you say ‘butter’?
像黄油一样”……“黄油”这个词该怎么说呢?
Sophia: ‘Butter.’
索菲亚:“黄油。
Natasha: Yeah.
娜塔莎:是的。
