  7. So I have some fishy expressions for you and let's see what exactly do they mean and how you can use them.

  8. The first one that I have for you is, “to smell fishy”.

  9. Oh yes!

  10. Fish does have bad odor but when I use the expression to smell fishy, it doesn't mean that I am saying that the fish stinks,

  11. no, the expression means to suspect.

  12. You know when you suspect someone or something it means it smells fishy.

  13. So for example your friend is trying to justify himself about something and you don't believe him, you think he's lying,

  14. so his justification has no point, that's when you can use this expression you can say that, “well his explanation,

  15. I just don't believe him, I smell something fishy.”

  16. So wherein you are suspecting him, right?

  17. Moving on to another expression that I have for you is, “to fish for a compliment”.

  18. “So people, how do I look today?”

  19. Well when you are all dressed up, you're wearing something really nice, you expect people to be nice,

  20. to you to say something which is really nice.

  21. That means that you are fishing for a compliment.

  22. Yes!

  23. So to fish for a compliment it means that you are expecting others to say something nice to you.

  24. So my friend comes up wearing a new dress and she just looks at me, I just know it that she is fishing for a compliment.

  25. Yes!

  26. So I am really nice and therefore I compliment her by saying that, “Wow!

  27. You look amazing tonight”, alright?

  28. Moving on to the third expression that I have for you, “to live in a fishbowl”.

  29. Well to live in a fishbowl it means to live in a place where everyone is watching you,

  30. keeping an eye on you.

  31. Like our movie stars, yes, any famous personality well the media, the people, everyone is watching them.

  32. They just don't have any personal life.

  33. So which means that “movie artists live in a fishbowl”.

  34. Even if you live or you belong to a small town where everyone knows about you, you know keeps an eye on you,

  35. they just know what's going on in your life.

  36. So it means that you live in a fishbowl.

  37. So have you seen a fishbowl before?

  38. Right it's just so tiny and you can just see the fish all day long.

  39. So that's how you can use this expression for someone who lives in such a place where everybody is keeping an eye on him or her.

  40. Someone is always watching you.
